Vice President Software Engineering

Job Descriptionnity to serve as the technology leader for the companys core High Education software-as-a-service (SaaS) & Customer Engagement products and software platforms, leading a globally distributed team of over 100 engineers with a budget of roughly $12 million. In this role, you will work with the SVP Product Technology, the General Manager and the product management organization to design, develop, and execute a technology strategy that will deliver new client-facing technology capabilities that expand and enhance the companys market position as a leading solutions provider in the industry. About You experience, education, skills, and accomplishments Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in a business, technology, or engineering 10 years of progressively responsible experience in product development, preferably for a company with a web-based SaaS product 5 years experience in leading a global technology development organization. 5 years experience with open source and public cloud solutions 5 years experience in managing offshore and outsourced technology relationships. It would be great if you also had Proven experience in leading teams through business transformation and growth Experience building out an end-to-end platform using agile development methodologies; Scrum or lean software development Proven talent development experience, ideally having attracted, retained, and developed a world class team primed for succession Proven record of technology business process improvement, which considers both organic growth and growth through acquisition, and the drive to standardize as a part of business efficiency and accelerating execution What will you be doing in this role? Manage a SaaS development strategy that includes a well-defined set of technologies and platforms closely aligned and strongly integrated with the overall business strategy and product offerings. This includes ensuring that the company is making the right technology investments for both strategic and operational priorities. Develop a world-class technology organization that is highly capable, inspired, and agile, and possesses the key competencies needed to deliver value-creating solutions. This includes managing and developing the overall technology resources in consideration of the companys mission and strategic investments, providing operational efficiencies and process improvements. Manage technology architecture and development to ensure delivery of expected outcomes of the companys products, services, and long-term strategy. Manage the groups mature agile software development processes to continuously improve execution speed and quality. Develop the capabilities of the technology organization to be able to respond to the business planned growth, both organic and through acquisitions, including developing the strategies and plans for streamlining and centralizing disparate architecture and applications to align them with the overall business objectives. Provide thought leadership as it pertains to the companys product offerings, driving product development innovation to further enhance the company's ability to deliver world-class tools and services. Manage relationships with external partners while analysing effectiveness, monitoring performance, and ensuring their accountability to key deliverables and SLAs. Provide strategic direction for the appropriate level of utilization of outsourced resources. In partnership with procurement, oversee the selection, negotiation, and ongoing performance for procured products, resources, and services. Build effective relationships within the business and with key customers in product and platform management to improve the communication and identification of key priorities while managing expectations and delivering solutions that drive significant business growth and achieve annual objectives.
